How to Make Wine Cork Angels
Hello! I’m Megan and I blog over at Homemade Ginger where I post DIY projects, craft tutorials, home decor ideas and more! I’m all about creating lovely things without spending a lot of money.
Like most of the world, we got out the Christmas decorations this past weekend. The same thing happens every year. Somehow while the Christmas lights and ornaments are sitting in a box in storage, they break or stop working. Four strands of lights didn’t work this year! We kept having to go back to the store and get more, then we got the wrong lights and had to go back again, then we realized we needed one more strand and had to go back AGAIN! This process happens every year. We also discovered a few broken ornaments and somehow we lost our ornament hangers. Something mysterious happens in that Christmas storage box every year. I’m not sure we will ever know why these things worked perfectly when we packed them away but don’t when we unpack them the next time.
So if you are missing a few ornaments and need some new ones, make these little wine cork angels. They couldn’t be cuter and are so easy! Or maybe you just need an easy craft to do for girls’ night. Wouldn’t these be fun to make with friends while enjoying a glass of wine and a snowflake cookie?
Whether you save your wine corks or not, you can whip up these little guys in a jiffy. The craft store sells bags of corks just for projects like these! Add your own details to give these angels a little personality. They would be perfect hanging on the tree or added to the outside of a present. Who wouldn’t love one of these as a bonus on their Christmas gift?
Wine cork crafts are all over Pinterest and while this is my first cork craft endeavor, I was glad that I could pick up the corks at the store since I don’t have wine corks just lying around my home. While I kept mine neutral, you could definitely experiment with different colors and styles of ribbon!

How to Make Wine Cork Angels
Equipment
Materials
- Wine corks
- wooden balls
- twine
- ribbon
- fine tip marker
- mod podge(matte)
- blush
Instructions
-
Brush a layer of matte Mod Podge on a wooden ball and allow it to dry. This helps the marker and blush to stick and not rub off.
-
Add a cute flush to the cheeks using blush and a small brush. Then, draw on the faces with a fine tip marker.
-
Using hot glue, attach the angel heads onto the top of the wine corks.
-
Add a 4 inch piece of twine around the neck as a little scarf.
-
Glue a 6 inch loop of twine onto the back of the cork for hanging.
-
Make a bow with an 8 inch piece of ribbon and glue it to the back of the cork to make the angel wings. Trim the ends if necessary.
These wine cork angels are so easy to make and would be the cutest addition to the outside of a gift or an easy craft for a group of friends to do. I hope you will make one or a few this holiday season!
