Scarecrow Crunch Snack Mix Recipe | Halloween Caramel Corn
This recipe for Scarecrow Crunch Snack Mix is fun to look at, fun to eat and it tastes delicious! It’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty. Plus it’s ridiculously easy to make!
Halloween is just around the corner and you know how much I love making Halloween treats! The Harvest Hash Chex Mix we posted a few years ago is one of our favourite fall recipes. This Scarecrow Crunch Snack Mix is really similar, but we’ve mixed and matched some different treats and flavours to pair with delicious caramel corn instead. And it’s so yummy!
It was a huge hit with my kids! I was expecting them to pick out all the candy (seriously, I’m still shocked they didn’t do that!?), but they went around trying all the different ingredients and choosing their favourites. I’m still confused about how sensible they were about it!?
I went to the bulk store last week to buy the ingredients and the candy pumpkins were out of stock. What!? I was freaking out a bit because let’s face it, you can’t make a Halloween snack mix without the candy pumpkins – they’re the cutest part!?
The nice man at the store offered me a pair of gloves and said I could pick out the candy pumpkins from another Halloween candy mix (you’ve gotta love the bulk store… haha), but I decided to go back the next day instead. When I went back, I did notice that someone had gone and picked out all the pumpkins from that other mix, so apparently I was not the only customer on a mission to get candy pumpkins!
Once mixed, this Scarecrow Crunch Snack Mix can be left out for casual munching or portioned out into cello bags and given away! Who doesn’t love a handmade goody bag full of yummy treats?! This mix is so good and doesn’t last very long in our house!

The full printable recipe is at the end of this post, but here’s what you’ll need:
- Caramel Corn
- Shreddies
- Mini Pretzels
- Candy Corn
- Candy Pumpkins
- Reese’s Pieces
- Mini Rolos
- Cello Bags (optional)
- Orange Ribbon (optional)
I’m going to let you in on a little secret… I used store bought caramel corn for this recipe. I always get embarrassed admitting things like that (some readers are probably gasping in horror that it isn’t homemade…), but seriously, it makes this recipe sooooooo easy!
You can go ahead and Google a caramel corn recipe if you want to make your own caramel corn from scratch. I won’t judge. And I also won’t judge if you want to make a quick, easy and awesome snack like mine!
I bought all the ingredients at the bulk store. It’s super inexpensive and you can buy the exact quantities you need so you won’t have half a pound of candy corn leftover.
And then the best part – THE CANDY
Isn’t Halloween candy the best!? Seriously. Look at all those awesome colours!? Then we added in the mini Rolo’s for good measure… mostly because we like chocolate. (And that seemed like a good enough reason to me?).
Add all your ingredients to a large bowl and stir! That’s it!
Make sure the bowl is big because there are a lot of goodies going in! I’d recommend using a big metal spoon to stir. Go in from the side of the bowl, down to the bottom, then lift in the center. You can’t really stir this one in a circle or else things will just get squished.
Now, your Scarecrow Crunch Snack Mix is ready to be devoured!
It makes an awesome snack for a Halloween party, or even Thanksgiving. If you need to make it peanut free, just replace the Reese’s Pieces with M&M’s.
It’s soooooo good!
Make Party Favor Bags!
When we posted the Harvest Hash Chex Mix recipe, tons of people made large batches of their Chex mix and portioned it into little plastic bags to give away as treats. And I LOVE that idea!
I tested out a little baggy (It was just a non-zip plastic sandwich bag… probably from the dollar store), but you could use nicer cello bags too. Tie an orange ribbon in a bow around it and they’d make great little gifts or party favours!
Just add 1 cup of mix to each bag and secure it with a cute piece of ribbon. Don’t they look cute!? You could make about 12 bags with this recipe if you add 1 cup of snack mix. And if you add 1/2 cup of snack mix, you could make 24 bags.
