First things first: We’re not suggesting that you go tearing apart perfectly good books willy nilly. (We’d never!) But if you have an old book that’s seen better days, and the spine is still salvageable, or you’re looking to create a sentimental keepsake for a friend or family member, this project may just fill the bill. For example, a Nancy Drew spine may make for the perfect gift for a mystery-lover. Or if you stumble across a too-good-to-be-true title at an estate sale, it may be worth giving it the bookmark treatment.
Instructions:
Use a utility knife* to carefully remove the spine. Line the backside of the spine with patterned contact paper. Punch a hole at the top and thread twine through. Easy peasy!
