What size crochet Easter basket does this pattern make?
This pattern makes a small Easter basket with a 2-1/4 inch diameter. The basket itself is 2-1/2 inches tall without the handle, and 4-1/2 inches tall including the handle.
For specific instructions on how to make a larger basket, read the pattern notes on our free Crochet Easter basket pattern.
What’s the best yarn to use for a crochet Easter basket?
We used worsted weight (size 4) acrylic yarn to make our crochet Easter baskets, which worked well for the size of the basket. We used Craft Smart yarn from our stash, and Loops & Threads value yarn from Michaels.
If you make a larger basket, cotton yarn may make the basket a bit sturdier. You can also use a heavier weight of yarn and adjust your hook size to make a bigger crochet Easter basket.
Does this crochet Easter basket stand up on its own?
Yes, because of its small size this crochet Easter basket stands up really well on its own and even the handle keeps its shape. You can also stuff it with a bit of Easter grass and chocolate eggs.
