Helpful Tips:
- Did you know every ping pong ball has one side that’s softer than the other? It’s true! Push on the ball to find the squishier area that can be squeezed a bit. Once you’ve found it, insert your knife there for easier cutting!
- If you don’t want to use hot glue, tacky glue also works well for this ping pong ball snowman craft. Allow the glue to dry at least a couple hours before adding the face and scarf.
Where can I find plain white ping pong balls?
This ping pong ball snowman craft requires a white ping pong ball, without a logo or other information on it. You can find plain white ping pong balls on Amazon or at a party supply store (we found ours in the “summer” aisle).
Our dollar store didn’t have white ping pong balls, but it’s definitely worth checking your local store!
How do I make earmuffs for my snowman ping pong ball?
You’ll need 2 pom poms (1/2 inch size) and a pipe cleaner. Cut the pipe cleaner to about 2-3/4 inches long. Glue one end of the pipe cleaner to the side of the snowman’s head.
Glue the other end to the opposite side of the snowman’s head. Add a small amount of glue to each pom pom and press them against the ends of the pipe cleaner. Now your snowman has adorable earmuffs!
What else can I use as a scarf for my ping pong ball snowman?
We used gingham plaid ribbon (3/8 inch wide) and strips of Christmassy cotton fabric to makes scarves for our snowmen.
As an alternative, use soft felt or braid 3 strands of yarn together for a soft “wool” scarf. You can even make a simple crochet chain scarf (add a single crochet into each chain to make a thicker scarf).
This little ping pong ball snowman is a glow-rious tealight Christmas craft! Make one based on each dinner guest and have them find their snowman selves instead of table place cards!
You can also add these snowmen to a mini Christmas village display or line them up along shelves or countertops. However you choose to display your snowman lights, they’re sure to melt hearts all season long!
