Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
-
Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Begin crocheting the lavender flower
-
Starting with the purple yarn, create a slip knot on your hook and chain 57.The number of chains here will determine the length of the lavender flower.
-
Insert 2 double crochet into the 3rd chain from the hook.
Step 3: Make a lavender petal
-
Slip stitch into the next chain.
-
Chain 6.
-
Slip stitch into the same chain. This is your first lavender petal.
Step 4: Continue making petals
-
Repeat step 3 (slip stitch into next chain, chain 6, slip stitch into same chain) until you get to the end.Finish with a slip stitch into the last chain.
-
Cut and tie off your yarn.
-
The flower part of your lavender is now complete! It should naturally have a bit of a spiral to it.
Step 5: Make the stem
-
Cut a 20 to 24 inch piece of wire and fold it in half.
-
Use pliers to twist the wire together, leaving a small gap at the folded end.
-
Insert green yarn through the bottom bent end and then wrap the yarn around to cover the bottom bend of the wire.
-
Wrap the yarn neatly and tightly up the wire, creating a covered stem for the lavender.
-
Continue wrapping until there’s about 1/4 inch of wire uncovered. Cut off the the yarn, leaving a 2 inch tail.
-
Place the yarn tail between the two wire ends and use pliers to secure it into place.
Step 5: Connect the flower and the stem
-
Sew in the tails on your lavender flowers.
-
Trim the tail on the stem, leaving about 1/4 inch of exposed wire. Then add hot glue to the top of the exposed wire.Make sure some of the glue connects to the yarn end as well, to stop it from unraveling.
-
Set the end of the lavender flower (the side with the double crochet) onto the glue.Cover the top of the wire completely. Hold it in place and wait a couple minutes for the glue to dry.
-
Begin wrapping the lavender around the stem with the chained petals towards the outside.Make sure the flower is wrapped tight and close together. You shouldn’t see any (or at least very little) of the green stem through the purple petals.
-
When you reach the other end of the lavender, add a dot of hot glue to the last petal.
-
Press the petal onto the stem. Again, hold it in place until the glue dries or it stays on its own.
-
Your crochet lavender is complete!

What size crochet lavender does this pattern make?
This pattern makes a lavender flower that’s approximately 4-3/4 inches long and about 1 inch wide. The full length of the flower will depend on your stem length, but ours are about 12 inches tall.
Can I adjust the size of the crochet lavender?
Yes, it’s very easy to make your lavender crochet flower shorter or longer. Simply adjust the number of chains at the beginning and then follow the rest of the pattern as is.
You can also change up the look by using a different weight of yarn and adjusting your hook size accordingly. For example, thinner yarn will give you a more delicate flower. It will also change the size of the flower a bit, so add chains at the beginning to create the same length of flower that we’ve made here.
What can I do with crochet lavender?
We love how these crochet lavender look as a bundle in a vase or mason jar. You can also make a smaller lavender blossom and use it as a brooch or boutonniere.
