Apple and Cinnamon Infused Autumn Sangria
Jump to:
This recipe for apple and cinnamon autumn sangria is fruity, with all the flavours of fall and it tastes SO GOOD. You could easily make this sangria for any autumn occasion, especially Thanksgiving. Itβs really quick to throw together and when you let it sit overnight, the flavours infuse into a delicious combination of fruit and wine with a hint of spice. Such a simple drink to make that tastes amazing!
Itβs no secret β I love red wine. And I also love sangria, but I neeeeever make it. I always forget about it when we have get togethers and my husband doesnβt drink, so if I made it any other day it would basically just be me drinking a whole batch by myself.Β (It may or may not have taken me 4 evenings to get through this batchβ¦ a very lovely four eveningsβ¦) So this was a first for me. And it turned out soooo well!
Sangria is an alcoholic punch that usually consists of wine and fruit mixed with a few other ingredients. Thereβs lots of sangria recipes out there, both with red and white wine. Since I love red wine, thatβs what I used, and I added cinnamon and apples to give it more of a fall flavour. Who says sangria is only for summer?! If youβre better at remembering than I am, sangria is one of the easiest big-batch cocktails around! Itβs a huge crowd-pleaser, and has just the right amount of refreshing fruit and delicious wine.
You can use your favourite red wine. I used a Pinot Noir from Niagara Falls, Ontario, but next time Iβm going to try it with a bottle of Merlot. The cinnamon sugar on the rim of the glass was sooooo good! It added a little more sweetness and spice with every sip. (Itβs super easy to add sugar to the rim of glasses β Just watch the recipe video below!)
It DEFINITELY needs to sit overnight. I was pretty excited when I made it so I tried a glass right after we mixed it, (a rookie mistake, I know) but it pretty much just tasted like watered down wine. But when I had a glass the next day, the flavours of the fruit and cinnamon really infused into the wine and it tasted delicious! It was worth the overnight wait!
This is a somewhat mild (but enjoyable) sangria recipe. If you prefer your sangria a little more, wellβ¦ boozyβ¦ then add in some brandy to give it a bit more punch. I was happy with it just like this, so itβs totally up to you and your tastes. You could also leave out the club soda if you like a bigger kick. Sangria recipes are pretty flexible.

How to Make Autumn Sangria:
The full printable recipe is at the end of this post, but hereβs a list of what youβll need:
- Apples
- Oranges
- Apple Cider
- Red Wine
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Club Soda
- Cinnamon Sugar
Chop the fruit into large chunks and pour them into a large pitcher. Any fall fruits work really well here β apples, oranges, pears, even pomegranate. With this recipe we kept it simple and used apples and oranges.

Then add your apple cider, red wine and cinnamon sticks and give it a good stir.
Donβt add your club soda until youβre ready to serve. The bubbles will go flat overnight so itβs best to wait until the last minute for that.

Now for the most important part! Leave your sangria to chill in the fridge overnight!
Right before youβre ready to serve it you can add the Club Soda to give it a little fizz. If youβre serving your autumn sangria to a large group you can add the Club Soda right to the pitcher.
If you think itβs going to take a few nights to get through your batch, pour a bit of Club Soda into a glass (maybe 1/4 cup or so), then pour the Sangria on top. That way, when you go to finish it off the next day, you can still enjoy fizz without it being flat.

Itβs really easy to rim the glasses with cinnamon sugar β and not only is it pretty, but itβs also DELICIOUS. I love the extra little taste of cinnamon and sugar with each sip! Simply dip the rim of the glass in a bowl filled with 1/4 inch of water, then dip the wet rim into the cinnamon sugar. Easy peasy!
OK, Iβm swooning a little over the bubbly delicious photos. Isnβt sangria soooooo beautiful?? Itβs making me want to make it again, just looking at it.

Are you supposed to eat the fruit at the bottom of Sangria? I can only assume the answer is yes? Because seriously, wine soaked, cinnamon infused fruit is amazingly delicious. I canβt imagine not eating every last bite?!

So whether youβre hosting a get together, making a batch for a holiday party, or simply making it to enjoy yourself on a relaxing evening or two, this autumn sangria is a super fun and delicious recipe to try.
